Surkhet, October 7 – Most parts of Karnali Province have been receiving rain for the past 24 hours. Because rain is still falling in districts including Humla, Jajarkot, Dailekh, Surkhet and Western Rukum, a weather warning has been issued for all districts of the province for today.
With rain continuing across most of the province, people have been asked to carry out daily activities only after checking updated weather information and forecasts. Residents have been told to stay alert, as the rain could trigger landslides on hilly and sloping terrain, block roads and raise water levels in rivers and streams.
Rain is likely in various parts of Karnali tomorrow and the day after as well, and people have been asked to take extra care in risk-prone areas. High alert is needed especially in settlements at risk of landslides and in areas along roads, rivers and streams.
As transport could be disrupted by the rain, people have been asked to check weather and road conditions before long-distance travel and to avoid unnecessary trips along risky road sections. The authorities concerned have also urged people not to try to cross rivers and streams when the water level is high. Snowfall has been reported in Humla.
