Large cargo vehicles banned on Narayangadh-Kathmandu road during Dashain

Large cargo vehicles

Kathmandu, October 6

The government has banned the operation of trailers and other large cargo vehicles on the Narayangadh-Kathmandu road section during the Dashain festival.

The decision was taken at a meeting of stakeholders held at the Department of Transport Management on Tuesday, as passenger vehicles are expected to face heavy traffic during the festival period.

Under the decision, large vehicles will not be allowed to operate on the Narayangadh-Kathmandu route from Ghatasthapana on October 11 to Purnima on October 25.

However, vehicles carrying essential goods, including food, medicines and fruits, will be allowed to operate without restriction during the period.

The restriction has been introduced to ease traffic movement and facilitate the transportation of passengers during the peak Dashain travel period.
