Kathmandu, October 1
Former Nepali Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba has pledged to resolve the differences within the party through the 15th General Convention and further strengthen the organisation.
Deuba made the commitment in a Facebook post on Thursday morning.
The Deuba faction is beginning ward-level conventions today as part of preparations for the party’s 15th General Convention.
In his message, Deuba appealed to party leaders and cadres to participate enthusiastically in the ward conventions beginning today.
He said the 15th General Convention is particularly important given the Nepali Congress’s nearly eight-decade history.
According to Deuba, the convention will be important for further strengthening the party’s contributions, sacrifices and struggles for a democratic republican system of governance, full press freedom and the rule of law.
He also urged party leaders and cadres to participate enthusiastically in the ward conventions being held across all 6,743 wards of the country and ensure that they are completed by following the required procedures.
The Deuba faction has informed the Election Commission that it plans to hold the 15th Central General Convention in Kathmandu from December 7 to 9.
