Siraha, September 29
The Armed Police Force has seized illegal goods worth Rs 1,650,463 from various border areas of Siraha.
According to Armed Police Superintendent (SP) Suman Jung Thapa of Siraha, the goods were seized on Monday from various border areas, both being smuggled toward India and brought in from India to Nepal.
The seized goods include clothing, motorcycles, grocery items, tobacco, cosmetics, toys, hardware items, beverages, liquor, eyeglasses, motor parts, chocolates, photo frames and medicines, among others.
The Armed Police Force said the seized goods have been handed over to the Siraha Customs Office as per procedure.
According to SP Thapa, from mid-July to mid-September, goods worth around Rs 29.5 million that were illegally exported or imported were seized from various border areas of Siraha and handed over to customs.
Likewise, by September 27, illegal goods worth around Rs 5.3 million have been seized.
