Ruling RSP lawmaker Jagadish Kharel (Lalitpur) has said he is waiting for Prime Minister Balendra Shah’s response on one particular matter.
MP Kharel said he had asked that the “Prime Minister’s Natural Calamity Relief Fund” be renamed the “Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund,” and that he is still awaiting the Prime Minister’s answer on that request.
Speaking at today’s sitting of the House of Representatives, Kharel said, “Disaster is not a natural calamity. It is not caused by fate. It can be natural or human-made.”
He also recalled having raised the issue in Parliament that the name of the Prime Minister’s Natural Calamity Relief Fund should be changed.
“I had made this request to the Honourable Prime Minister from this very House,” he said. “I said it should not be called the Prime Minister’s Natural Calamity Relief Fund, but should be renamed the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund. I am waiting for a response to that. I want to make this request.
