Gen Z representatives have been elected as regional representatives through the Nepali Congress ward conventions.
Representatives from the Gen Z age group, affiliated with various professions, were elected during ward conventions held on September 19 and 20.
Milan Gharti Magar, a member of the Gen Z age group, was elected ward chairperson of Ward No. 4 of Naubahini Rural Municipality in Pyuthan.
On the second day of the convention, 22-year-old Rajendra Jaisi was unanimously elected regional representative from Ward No. 1 of Sanni Triveni Rural Municipality in Kalikot. Jaisi, who was also active in the Gen Z movement, is an engineer by profession.
Eighteen-year-old Sunita Subedi was also elected regional representative from the same ward. Subedi, a nurse by profession, had been active in the local politics of the Nepali Congress.
In Nawalpur, 18-year-old Bolina Garanjamagar was elected regional representative from Ward No. 2 of Bulingtar Rural Municipality. She is also a model.
Similarly, 23-year-old Kalpana Rimal was elected regional representative from Ward No. 2 of Dhakari Rural Municipality in Achham.
According to the election committee, ward conventions have so far been held in 6,132 wards across 43 districts. Conventions in the remaining wards are being held today.
The 15th General Convention of the Nepali Congress is scheduled to be held in Kathmandu from October 2 to 5.
