Hetauda, September 18
The Tribhuvan Highway (via road) and Kanti Highway, both used for travel between Hetauda and Kathmandu, have come into regular two-way operation from today.
Santosh Subedi, administrative officer at the District Administration Office, Makwanpur, said two-way traffic on both routes has been reopened after the blocked section at Krishnabhir, under the Prithvi Highway in Dhading, resumed operation.
The Tribhuvan Highway connects Hetauda to Kathmandu via Palung-Naubise, while the Kanti Highway connects Hetauda to the Kathmandu Valley via Tikabhairab-Lalitpur.
After the road was blocked at Krishnabhir, the administration had, since Bhadra 16, arranged one-way movement to keep traffic smooth, safe, and organised, with cargo and large passenger vehicles required to use the Tribhuvan Highway when heading to Kathmandu and the Kanti Highway on the return.
With the Krishnabhir section now reopened, that arrangement has been lifted, and regular two-way traffic on both the Tribhuvan and Kanti highways has been open since Friday, administrative officer Subedi said.
