Kathmandu, September 11
The Federation of Theatre Workers has demanded that relevant professional associations and organisations be consulted and involved when formulating policies, plans and programmes related to theatre.
Submitting a memorandum to the Music and Drama Academy, the federation emphasised the need to ensure the participation of stakeholder professional organisations when drafting policies and programmes concerning the theatre sector.
A team led by federation chair Rajendra Rimal submitted the memorandum to Academy Chancellor Brajesh Khanal at the Academy’s office.
The memorandum prioritised the need for necessary consultation, coordination and collaboration with relevant professional associations and organisations when formulating theatre-related policies, plans and programmes.
Accepting the memorandum, Chancellor Khanal expressed his commitment to being positive toward the federation’s demands and issues raised. He said continuous dialogue would be needed to take the necessary initiative and collaboration to address the federation’s demands.
The programme to submit the memorandum was also attended by the Academy’s Theatre Department Chief Jit Bahadur Deuja (Bijaya Bisphot) and Drama Department Chief Saraswati Chaudhary.
From the federation’s side, those present included Chair Rimal along with Vice-Chairs Sirjana Adhikari and Ram KC, General Secretary JB DC, Secretary Ashok Sivakoti, and Co-Treasurer Prabhan Bhusal, among others.
