There is a risk of flash floods in Bhotekoshi and Trishuli river systems today also. Saraswati Bista, a flood expert at the Flood Forecasting Division, the Centre of Hydrology and Water Resources Research, said that the water level in the Bhotekoshi, Trishuli, and nearby rivers is expected to rise today, as precipitation is taking place and there is a possibility of more precipitation in the upstream areas of the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa.
The division urged residents in the riverbank areas in Rasuwa and Nuwakot to be highly alert in view of the flash floods in these river systems. According to Bista, there is a possibility that the water level may rise and there is risk of moderate flash floods today in rivers and streams flowing through districts like Taplejung, Panchthar, Tehrathum, Sankhuwasabha, Dhankuta, Bhojpur, Solukhumbu, Okhaldhunga, Khotang, Udayapur, Dolakha, Ramechhap, Sindhuli, Sindhupalchok, Kavrepalanchok, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Kathmandu, Dhading, Makawanpur, Chitwan, Gorkha, Tanahu, Lamjung, Manang, Mustang, Myagdi, Kaski, Syangja, Parbat and Dolpa, and nearby districts.
Similarly, the Division stated that the water level in even small rivers in districts like Rukum East, Rukum West, Salyan, Jajarkot, Surkhet, Dailekh, Kalikot, Mugu, Humla, Jumla, Achham, Bajhang, Bajura, Dadeldhura, Baitadi, Darchula, and Kanchanpur is expected to increase significantly, and there is a medium risk of sudden floods. The Division has suggested that the general public living in coastal areas and travelling along riverbanks stay alert, as there is a risk of flash floods in the small rivers and streams in those areas.
