Continuous rain over the past 30 hours has disrupted daily life across the country, including in Kathmandu.
The rain in Kathmandu has also affected the Nepal Premier League (NPL) 2026. Both matches scheduled for today are almost certain to be called off.
Although the Tribhuvan University (TU) International Cricket Stadium was covered, the prolonged rain has left water pooled on the field. Water flowing in from the direction of the parapet has also collected outside the ground.

The rain is still falling, so the covers cannot be removed to prepare the pitch for now. The first match was scheduled to begin at 12:30 pm. It will certainly be cancelled, though an official announcement is still pending.
Paras Khadka, secretary of the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), said the chances of play are slim.
“It is a technical matter, and it is not yet certain exactly what will happen. But the chances of the matches taking place are low,” Secretary Khadka said.
