Tree-cutting work has begun as part of efforts to clear a landslide and reopen the Krishnabhir section of the Prithvi Highway.
According to the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Development, 18 workers have been deployed from both sides of the landslide to cut down trees. The ministry said the necessary construction equipment has also been kept ready on both sides of the affected section to clear the debris.
The ministry said machinery will be mobilised to remove the landslide debris as soon as the tree-cutting work is completed. It said work is being carried out at a rapid pace, with reopening the road given top priority.
The subsidence of the road at Krishnabhir has disrupted supply chains to Kathmandu, while passengers travelling to and from the Kathmandu Valley have been facing difficulties. Taking advantage of the situation, artificial shortages have also begun to emerge in the market.
