New track opens at Krishnabhir; vehicles to resume travel from tomorrow

Kathmandu, September 16

Work to open a new track at Krishnabhir in Dhading, along the Prithvi Highway, has been completed.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the work to open the new track at Krishnabhir was finished by Wednesday morning. With the new track ready, vehicles will be able to travel fully along this highway starting tomorrow.

The highway has been blocked since August 30, when floodwaters in the Trishuli River, arriving four days after the devastating flood in the Bhotekoshi, cut away the road at Krishnabhir.

On September 13, some heavy vehicles were passed through to test the new track. Even after that test, vehicles were not allowed to operate, as the work had not been fully completed.

With the Prithvi Highway closed, both large and small vehicles that normally use this route have been travelling to and from Kathmandu via alternative highways.
