Kathmandu, September 2
An alternative route has been opened at Parewa Bhir in Gajuri Rural Municipality-3 of Dhading along the Prithvi Highway.
The road had subsided due to erosion caused by flooding in the Trishuli River, bringing traffic to a complete halt. The District Police Office, Dhading, said an alternative track has now been opened at the site.
A 100-metre-long new track has been constructed, and vehicles have begun operating normally along the route, police said. However, they warned that travelling on the temporary track remains risky.
Earlier, traffic along the same highway had been completely disrupted after the road subsided at Krishnabhir due to flooding in the Trishuli River.
Following flood damage to the highway, vehicles travelling between the capital Kathmandu and other areas have been using three alternative routes from Narayangadh in Chitwan via Hetauda to Kathmandu.
