Kathmandu, September 1
The management of bodies recovered from the devastating floods along the Trishuli River has become increasingly challenging as the death toll continues to rise.
Bodies were previously placed on the ground for temporary management in Chitwan after the number of bodies exceeded hospital capacity. The same problem is now emerging in Kathmandu, where hospitals are also running out of space to store the bodies.
Discussions have begun on how to manage the bodies after they exceeded available capacity. The authorities are consulting the District Security Committee as well as medical professionals on possible arrangements.
A team led by the Kathmandu Chief District Officer is currently focused on discussions regarding the management of the bodies, according to the district administration.
Authorities are considering burying the bodies underground, similar to the arrangement made in Chitwan. However, no final decision has been made yet.
