Since last Wednesday’s flood in the Bhotekoshi River washed away the main road connecting Rasuwa, reaching the Rasuwa district headquarters has become extremely difficult.
An alternative route from Kathmandu to Dhunche has been opened via Tokha–Chhahare–Gadkhar Bridge–Aapra–Narja–Lachyang–Sarmathali–Patikharka–Bogtitar–Kalikasthan. Within Rasuwa alone, on this side of the Miteri Bridge, the flood has completely swept away 13 bridges. Two bridges on the Nuwakot-Rasuwa border were also destroyed, cutting the district off from the road network.
The Pung Khola bridge has become the only remaining link connecting the Rasuwa district headquarters, Dhunche, to the transportation network. This bridge falls within Naikunda Rural Municipality.
Since it is a single-lane dirt road, travel is quite difficult. Many small vehicles can currently be seen heading toward Dhunche via this route, and there is heavy traffic congestion on the road.
Cargo vehicles and other small vehicles are also travelling toward Dhunche along this same road.
