Kathmandu, August 27
Nepal Telecom has announced that it will provide free voice calls, data and SMS services to customers in flood-affected areas and surrounding regions for an additional three days.
Nepal Telecom had previously announced two days of free voice calls, along with 2 GB of data and 50 free SMS messages per day. The company has now extended the facility through August 30, covering August 28, 29 and 30.
The company said the services are being provided to help affected citizens stay in contact with their families, rescue and relief workers, and relevant authorities during the difficult circumstances.
Nepal Telecom said that although the floods have damaged physical infrastructure, its technical teams have been continuously deployed to keep services operational and repair the affected infrastructure.
