Kathmandu, August 27
A total of 289 bodies have been recovered so far from the devastating flood that swept through the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli river systems on Wednesday.
According to data available as of 3 pm Thursday, three bodies have been recovered in Rasuwa, 12 in Nuwakot, 29 in Dhading, 29 in Gorkha, 16 in Tanahun, 121 in Chitwan, 65 in East Nawalparasi and 14 in West Nawalparasi.
The flood caused widespread destruction along the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli river systems, with a large number of people still reported missing or out of contact.
A joint team of the Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force is continuing search operations for those still missing.
The search and rescue teams are working across affected areas despite damaged roads, bridges and other infrastructure that have made access difficult.
