The government has begun facilitating the return of Nepali citizens stranded in China following the devastating flood in the Bhotekoshi River that disrupted the Nepal-China border area.
The Nepali Embassy in Beijing issued a notice urging Nepali citizens stranded in China due to the disruption caused by the flood to contact the designated officials for assistance in returning to Nepal.
The embassy said the sudden and severe flood in the Bhotekoshi River on August 26 disrupted the Nepal-China border area, leaving some Nepali citizens stranded on the Chinese side.
“Due to the sudden and severe flood in the Bhotekoshi River on August 26, the Nepal-China border area has been disrupted, leaving Nepali citizens stranded in China. They are requested to contact the following officials for assistance in returning to Nepal,” the embassy said in its notice.
The notice has provided contact details for Yubaraj Chhetri of the Nepali Consulate General in Lhasa, and Sanju Maharjan and Rajkumar Sah of the Nepali Embassy in Beijing.
The embassy has urged Nepali citizens affected by the border disruption to contact the officials for necessary coordination and assistance to facilitate their return to Nepal.
