Flood-affected local units declared disaster crisis zones

Kathmandu, August 26

All local units in the districts affected by the Rasuwa floods have been declared disaster crisis zones. The decision was made by an emergency meeting of the Council of Ministers held today.

According to Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal, the local units in the flood-affected districts have been declared disaster crisis zones for three months under Section 32 of the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act, 2017.

The government has also decided to publish the declaration in the Nepal Gazette.

A massive flood in the Rasuwagadhi area this morning caused widespread damage.
