A girl who went missing after being swept away by floodwaters in Makwanpur was found dead three days later.
Eleven-year-old Sumitra Blon of Bastipur, Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City-19, was found dead on Friday morning.
She had gone missing on August 18 after being swept away by the Basudev River in Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City-19 while returning home from Nirmal Secondary School in Bastipur.
Police and residents had been searching for her.
According to Makwanpur police, Sumitra’s body was found in the Rapti River at Lamitar in Manahari Rural Municipality-3, about five kilometres downstream from the spot where she was swept away.
Of those swept away by the river, one was rescued immediately, while another was found dead the same day. The body of another girl was recovered the following day, August 19.
