Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) is set to hold an interaction with its ministers and lawmakers on Wednesday amid growing differences between the government and party’s parliamentary members.
The interaction will be held at the parliamentary party office at 11 am, where party chairman Rabi Lamichhane is expected to issue directions to the ministers and lawmakers.
According to a party leader, the meeting will review recent activities, including the growing misunderstanding between the government and RSP lawmakers.
The party is also preparing to caution lawmakers who have recently faced questions over parliamentary discipline, another leader said.
Differences within the party have reportedly increased as some lawmakers have failed to maintain parliamentary decorum in their language and public activities.
The issue became more visible during Tuesday’s meeting of the House of Representatives.
RSP lawmaker Ashika Tamang attempted to ask a supplementary question after she was dissatisfied with the response given by Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal.
However, Speaker DP Aryal cautioned her to maintain the dignity and decorum of Parliament and did not allow her to speak.
Tamang subsequently left the parliamentary meeting after she was denied speaking time.
The incident has further highlighted concerns within the RSP over the conduct of its lawmakers and the relationship between the party’s parliamentary wing and the government.
