Kathmandu, August 18
The Lalitpur District Court has refused to grant permission to arrest journalist Kishor Shrestha.
The Lalitpur police had sought an arrest warrant from the court based on a complaint filed against Shrestha by Deputy Speaker Rubi Kumari Thakur at the District Police Range, Kathmandu, on Monday.
The court, however, declined to grant permission for his arrest.
Meanwhile, Shrestha on Tuesday filed a writ petition at the Patan High Court, seeking an order preventing authorities from arresting him or seizing his equipment.
Shrestha reached the High Court on Tuesday afternoon, saying he feared he could be arrested again based on the complaint filed by Thakur.
In his petition, he has sought an interim order against any attempt to detain him and seize his equipment.
Shrestha had been released only on Monday following a mandamus order issued by the Supreme Court.
The latest legal developments come a day after his release and following the complaint filed by Deputy Speaker Thakur.
