The Supreme Court has issued an interim order directing that former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and his wife, Arzu Rana Deuba, not be arrested.
The bench of Justices Mahesh Sharma Poudel and Nityananda Pandey issued the interim order barring their arrest.
According to an ordinance issued on May 1, cases arising from investigations conducted by the Department of Money Laundering Investigation are to be handled by the Special Court.
However, since an arrest warrant had been issued by the Kathmandu District Court rather than the Special Court, the Supreme Court issued an interim order stating that Deuba should not be arrested, and should not be caused to be arrested, based on that district court-issued warrant.
