Co-hosts India national cricket team will take on the New Zealand national cricket team in the final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 on Sunday.
The title clash will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and begins at 7:15 pm Nepali time.
Two-time champions India are aiming to secure a record third T20 World Cup title in front of home supporters. New Zealand, meanwhile, are seeking their maiden T20 World Cup trophy and hopes to upset the hosts in the high-stakes final.
India reached the final after defeating the England cricket team by seven runs in a thrilling semifinal encounter. New Zealand booked their place with a commanding nine-wicket victory over the South Africa national cricket team.
New Zealand opener Finn Allen starred in the semifinal, smashing an unbeaten 100 off just 33 balls, the fastest century in the tournament’s history, after his team restricted South Africa to 169 runs.
India captain Suryakumar Yadav said leading the team in a World Cup final is a special moment and expressed confidence in his squad. New Zealand skipper Mitchell Santner noted that his side is not the favourite but is prepared to challenge the hosts.
India is appearing in their fourth T20 World Cup final, having previously won the 2007 and 2024 editions. A victory would make them the first team to win three titles and successfully defend the championship.
Historically, New Zealand hold the advantage in T20 World Cup meetings, winning all three previous encounters against India.
