Kathmandu, February 26
Tourist vehicles will be required to obtain permits at least two days before the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5 in order to operate on election day.
According to the ‘Procedure Related to the Operation of Vehicles–2082’ issued by the Election Commission, the provision has been introduced to facilitate the movement of tourists, as international flights will operate regularly on election day.
EC spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai said tourist vehicles must secure permission at least two days before March 5 from the concerned District Administration Office and the Election Commission in Kathmandu.
The procedure also includes measures to ensure systematic vehicular movement along highways on election day.
Vehicles providing essential services, as well as those belonging to diplomatic missions and the Human Rights Commission, will be allowed to operate. Other vehicles may also operate upon obtaining the required permits.
