
Marking the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5, polling stations in Sudurpaschim Province have been categorised into three groups, normal, sensitive, and highly sensitive, based on security considerations.
According to the Sudurpaschim Province Police Office in Dhangadhi, Kailali, out of a total of 1,176 polling stations in the province, 481 have been classified as highly sensitive, accounting for approximately 41 percent of the total.
Similarly, 395 polling stations (33.58 per cent) have been identified as sensitive, while the remaining 300 polling stations (25.51 percent) fall under the normal category.
Kailali district has the highest number of highly sensitive polling stations, with 108 stations placed in this category. Out of 237 polling stations in the district, 106 have been classified as sensitive, while 23 are considered normal.
In Kanchanpur, 66 out of 132 polling stations have been listed as highly sensitive. The district has 40 sensitive polling stations and 26 normal ones.
In Doti district, 13 polling stations have been categorised as highly sensitive. Of the district’s 118 polling stations, 44 are sensitive, and 81 have been classified as normal, according to data provided by the provincial police office.
From an election security perspective, 66 polling stations in Achham district have been placed in the highly sensitive category. Out of 130 polling stations in the district, 50 are sensitive and 14 are considered normal.
In Dadeldhura, 33 of the district’s 104 polling stations have been classified as highly sensitive. Similarly, 34 stations are sensitive, while 37 fall under the normal category.
Darchula district has 15 highly sensitive polling stations. Out of a total of 112 polling stations in the district, 32 have been classified as sensitive and 65 as normal.
In Baitadi, which has 129 polling stations in total, 33 have been listed as highly sensitive. The district has 28 sensitive polling stations, while the remaining 68 have been categorised as normal.
In terms of percentage, Bajura has the highest proportion of highly sensitive polling stations. The district has only three polling stations considered normal. According to the provincial police office, 62 out of 77 polling stations in Bajura, or approximately 80.51 percent, have been classified as highly sensitive, while 12 are considered sensitive.
Similarly, Bajhang has only three polling stations categorised as normal. Of the district’s 137 polling stations, 85 or 62 percent, have been listed as highly sensitive, while 12 polling stations fall under the sensitive category.
