Rabi–Balen meeting sparks speculation over political alignment

Kathmandu, December 25

Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chair Rabi Lamichhane has concluded a one-on-one talk with Kathmandu Mayor Balen Shah (Balen). The meeting was held at the Jawagal residence of Kumar Ben, an associate of Mayor Shah, in Lalitpur.

Lamichhane has just left the meeting venue. After the meeting with Balen, journalists asked him what the outcome of the discussions was.

In response, Rabi countered with a question, saying, “What does my face say?”

Journalists then asked him another question: “Will you walk with a stick (Balen’s election) or ring the bell (RSP’s election symbol)?”

Replying to this, Lamichhane said, “Time will tell. The talks went well.”

Lamichhane did not provide a concrete answer, and no statement has been made from Balen’s side. He is still inside the residence holding talks with other stakeholders.
