As the date for the third edition of the World Peace Program approaches, the organisers are busy coordinating with national and international delegations, managing venues, preparing discussion programmes, and handling various logistical tasks.
The World Peace Program , organised by the World Peace Organisation, is set to take place from December 11–13 in Lumbini and Ramgram. The event will bring 25 billionaires to Nepal for their first collective visit, during which they will also explore investment opportunities in the country.
According to the organisers, the programme will see the participation of more than 10,000 people, including national and international leaders, scholars, UN cultural ambassadors, internationally renowned businesspeople, artists, youth, and community representatives.
To learn more about the event, Onlinekhabar recently spoke with Nikesh Adhikari, Program Director of the World Peace Program . He discussed the importance and relevance of the event and shared details about the sessions that will be featured.
Excerpts:
Could you tell us about the World Peace Program ?
First of all, the World Peace Program is a space to pray for peace around the world. Through this event, we want to showcase different aspects of Lumbini. Lumbini is not merely the birthplace of Lord Gautam Buddha; it is also a centre of opportunity, as it includes a special economic zone. For the billionaires attending the event, we aim to highlight various opportunities for investment and partnership.
Why is this programme relevant in the current situation?
The programme is relevant in several ways. Firstly, it is an annual event. Nepal recently went through political turmoil, and false narratives have been circulated suggesting that there is no peace or stability in the country. From the birthplace of the Buddha—known globally as the god of peace—we want to shift that narrative. By bringing people from different parts of the world, we hope to create a positive impact and highlight the investment potential in Nepal. We want to establish a perspective that the coming days will be even better for the country.
Two editions of the programme have already taken place. How will this edition be different from the previous ones?
In the previous editions, we invited many people, and by hosting the event in Ramgram, we were able to promote the site in India to some extent. However, we learned that we were not able to work closely enough with local communities and businesses. Later, through a carbon project called Sudhariyeko Chulo, we distributed improved stoves to local residents. This time, we want to collaborate with the visiting billionaires to plan projects that will directly benefit local communities.
In this edition, we are involving local people in greater numbers. We want them to feel genuinely connected to the event, and we have been actively working toward that.

Who is the target audience of the World Peace Program ?
Of course, the locals. Besides them, we are expecting 300 international delegates from the field of agriculture. For instance, a delegate from the Chinese company Xinfadi, one of the largest agriculture companies in Southeast Asia is attending the event. Similarly, delegates from the Indian agriculture company Agribid, which operates a platform for 160 million farmers, will also join. With these companies, we hope to explore opportunities for collaboration. We have also invited many businesses and individuals from Kathmandu.
There will also be discussion sessions. What will they focus on?
Yes, there will be three main discussion topics, they include Ancient Intelligence vs Artificial Intelligence, Reimagining Nepal’s Tourism Through Lumbini and Carbon Economy for Nepal: A New Hope for a Successful Transition
Lastly, as many VVIPs are attending, and given that security challenges have increased after the Gen-Z protests, how have you planned to address these concerns?
Regarding security, we have discussed everything with the concerned authorities. The District Administration Office reached out to us, and we briefed them on the types of guests attending and other details. We also discussed the security protocols that will be followed during the event. All relevant authorities have committed to providing proper security.
