The Election Commission has approved the schedule for the upcoming National Assembly election.
According to the approved schedule, the voters’ list will be published on January 3, 2026 from 10 am to 11am. Claims, objections and applications regarding the voters’ list will be reviewed, and the final voters’ list will be published on January 6 from 3 pm to 4 pm.
Candidacy nomination papers will be registered on January 7, 2026 from 10 am to 3 pm. Objections against candidates may be filed on January, 2026; 8 from 10 am to 4 pm. Candidates may withdraw their names on January, 2026; 11 from 10 am to 1 pm, after which the final list of candidates will be published between 1 pm and 2 pm the same day.
On January 12, candidates will receive their election symbols from the office of the concerned election officer between 10 am and 1pm.
Voting is scheduled to take place on January 24, 2026 from 9 am to 3 pm at the designated polling centers.
The terms of 19 National Assembly members expire on March 4. Among those completing their terms, Bamdev Gautam is a presidential appointee. Elections will be held to fill the remaining 18 seats.
From Koshi Province, three members will be elected; four from Madhesh; two each from Bagmati, Gandaki, Karnali and Sudurpaschim; and three from Lumbini Province.
