
Kathmandu, November 24
The “Kathmandu International Performance Art Festival 2025” began on Monday at the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), organised by Bindu Space for Artists in collaboration with the Academy.
Speaking at the inauguration, NAFA Chancellor Naradmani Hartamchhali described performance art as a dynamic medium that goes beyond traditional boundaries and establishes direct engagement with society. He said the art form plays a significant role in deepening thought, dialogue, and intercultural understanding.
Saurganga Darshandhari, head of NAFA’s Multidisciplinary and Creative Arts Department, expressed gratitude to the participating artists and supporters. She said the Academy plans to continue hosting such programs in the future.
Bindu Space for Artists director Prithvi Shrestha welcomed the participating artists and highlighted the institution’s past work in promoting contemporary performance art in Nepal.
The festival features Nepali artists including Manish Lal Shrestha, Sarita Dangol, Prithvi Shrestha, Saurganga Darshandhari, Muna Bhadel, Anil Subba, Dhruvaraj Sharma, Ryan Rajbhandari, Samana Rai, Samir Ranpaheli, Subhista Kayastha and several international performance artists—Ursula Maria Probst (Austria), Raashish(India), Farah Naz Moon (Bangladesh), Eduardo Cardoso Amato (Brazil), Li Zineng (China) , Satadru Sovan Banduri (India), Dr Anand Jaiswal (India), Nitesh Kumar Kushwaha (India), Nicolas Aca Jr (Philippines), Jeremy Hiah Buang Hoe (Singapore) and Priyanthi Anush (Sri Lanka).
The performances will take place on November 24, 25 and 26, with the festival concluding on November 27.
Organisers said the event aims to foster creative exchange, encourage experimental artistic practices, and strengthen Nepal’s presence in the global performance art scene.
