Car plunges 42 feet off BP Highway: Husband dies, wife and son injured

One person died and two others were injured when a car plunged about 42 feet off the BP Highway at Chainpur, Sunkoshi Rural Municipality-6 in Sindhuli on Tuesday morning.

The car, Ba 7 Cha 7554, was heading to Kathmandu from Biratnagar when it went out of control and veered off the road.

According to Sindhuli Police Chief Laldhwaj Subedi, the deceased has been identified as Om Bahadur Arjel (65) of Biratnagar Metropolitan City-17, Morang. He was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident.

His wife, Sunita Arjel (49), and son, Nishant Arjel (31), were injured in the crash. Police said Sunita’s condition is critical, while Nishant is in moderate condition.

The injured were first treated at Aatmiya Community Hospital in Khalde and later referred to Dhulikhel Hospital for further treatment, according to police.
