Sunil Khadka breaks 10-year-old Guinness World Record with 32 clap pull-ups

Sunil Khadka, Nepali callisthenics athlete, has achieved historic success by breaking a Guinness World Record. He broke a 10-year-old world record by completing 32 clap pull-ups in one minute.

Previously, on December 19, 2015, Blake Austin from the United States had set the record by completing 30 clap pull-ups. Khadka has now surpassed that record.

Khadka, 25, a native of Galchi, Dhading, set a new record during an official attempt at Bajra Nanita’s Fitness in Lalitpur on June 21. Guinness World Records has also listed his achievement on its official website.

Sukadev Karki, the founder of Nepal Youth Fitness and Callisthenics and a certified international strength and conditioning specialist, was the chief judge of the event.

After setting the record, Khadka expressed immense pride in representing Nepal on the world stage.

“Holding Nepal’s flag in front of the entire world made me feel more proud of my country than of myself. Now, I aim to raise Nepal’s flag to the top in world callisthenics competitions as well,” he says to Onlinekhabar.

He emphasised that fitness is not just an option but a lifestyle, and everyone should understand it as such.

Khadka has been training consistently since 2020. During the initial days, he couldn’t even perform three proper pull-ups. But through five years of continuous practice, he has now succeeded in setting a world record.

Khadka recently graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from Pulchowk Campus. He has also represented Nepal internationally.

In 2024, he won one gold and one silver medal at the Asian Callisthenics Championship, held in Mumbai. He also works as a certified personal trainer.
