The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index fell for the fourth consecutive trading day on Wednesday, dropping by 13.96 points to close at 2,620.
Alongside the index decline, the total transaction amount also decreased. While the market recorded a turnover of Rs 9.63 billion on the previous trading day, it fell to Rs 8.73 billion today. Share prices of 62 companies increased, while 183 declined and one remained unchanged.
The “Others” group recorded the highest gain of 2.46 per cent, driven by a sharp rise in the prices of two reinsurance companies. The Development Bank group followed with a 1.19 per cent increase, while all other groups saw losses.
The Banking group dropped by 0.49 per cent, Finance by 0.21 per cent, Hotels and Tourism by 1.54 per cent, Hydropower by 1.96 per cent, Investment by 1.08 per cent, Life Insurance by 0.86 per cent, Manufacturing and Processing by 0.92 per cent, Microfinance by 0.26 per cent, Non-life Insurance by 1.39 per cent, and Trading by 0.69 per cent.
Among the top gainers, Om Megashree Pharmaceuticals rose by 10 per cent, followed by People’s Power at 7.88 per cent, Upakar Laghubitta at 6.31 per cent, Nepal Reinsurance at 5.66 per cent, and Lumbini Development Bank at 4.15 per cent.
On the losing side, Guras Laghubitta declined by 10 per cent, Nepal Micro Insurance by 9.71 per cent, Barahi Hydropower by 9.26 per cent, Crest Micro Life Insurance by 7.55 per cent, and Butwal Power Company by 6.12 per cent.
The most actively traded companies were Radhi Bidyut, Universal Power, Crest Micro Life Insurance, Ngadi Group, and Lumbini Development Bank.
