Squatters of Gadhawa rural municipality-5 in Dang, delivering leaf plates at a quarantine camp in Chainpur School of the Dang district.

Ghorahi, June 6

In the quarantine camp based at Chainpur School of Gadhawa rural municipality-5 in Dang, some squatters have been delivering free vegetables and leaf plates for the people there to feed themselves.

They delivered a total of 3,210 plates to the 72 people quarantined at the school. Since the plates are only of one-time use, it is believed that it reduces the risk of infection.

Rural Land Rights Forum Gadhawa Chair Bishnu Chaudhari said, “This is a difficult time and everyone should help the needy in whatever form they can, from where they are. That is why we thought of helping by giving the plates.”

Farmers working in the Lokharpur and Prasiya areas have been delivering vegetables for minimum prices with the quarantine camps struggling to manage food supplies.

According to Land Agriculture Campaign Operator and member of Quarantine Management Committee Sunil Kumar, “There was a problem of food supplies since the first week. With the shortage of food in the quarantine camps and the farmers not finding markets for their goods, the latter decided to supply their food to the quarantine to benefit both.”
