Nepal-China to discuss past treaties and agreements 

The delegation-level talks taking place between Nepal and China on Monday will centre around economic and development partnership. The delegation-level talks would be led by the foreign ministers of both countries. Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali said all matters of bilateral interest and concern would be discussed during the bilateral talks. He said the treaties and agreements between the two countries in the past and China-supported projects in Nepal will be reviewed as well as their implementation emphasised. The Trans-Himalayan Multi-dimensional Connectivity Network between China and Nepal, construction of a railway link and mutual contacts as well as on transport and transit agreements among other topics will also be discussed in the meeting of the two foreign ministers.

Protest restricted around Melamchi project

Protesting around Melamchi project site has been prohibited. Workers, whom the Italian contractors didn’t pay, have been staging protests at the site. These people have been urged by the government not to obstruct work at the project site and have declared it a restricted zone.

Medical colleges not following regulations to lose affiliation

A parliamentary sub-committee has asked the government to take back affiliation to medical colleges which have not been following in government regulations

Coordinator of the sub-committee, Suresh Kumar Rai on Friday said that the sub-committee had found a lot of colleges operating without following regulations and that asked such colleges to be closed down. Rai said that the sub-committee had asked the government to prepare a directive to take back affiliation.

Supreme Court halts MBBS entrance exam

The Supreme Court stopped the MBBS entrance exam on Saturday. A single bench of Justice Tej Bahadur KC said that the exam could not be held until a discussion was held with students who had filed a writ at the apex court and the Institute of Medicine who conducts the exam.

A Division league to start from December 14

Martyr’s Memorial A Division league will start from December 14. ANFA on Friday announced that this year’s A Division league will start from December 14 and the league after that will start from November 1 every year. All 14 teams which participated in last year’s league will take part in this league. However, unlike last year, this year that last two teams will be relegated. ANFA also announced that teams had already registered players for the league.

Salam Air to fly to Kathmandu daily

Omani airlines Salam Air has decided to hold daily flights to Kathmandu. Salam Air has been flying to Kathmandu only three times a week for the past year. The company stated that it increased flights per week to double the passenger it brought to Nepal in the past year. The company says it brought over 50,000 people to Nepal.

Ward chair sell suspension bridge

Ward Chairs of Bidur Municipality-5 Shiva Kumar Chitrakar and Belkotgadi Municipality-8 Bhej Prasad Pudasaini have sold a suspension bridge in the Thadi Khola. Both Chitrakar and Pudasaini have been accused of selling the bridge to scrap dealers.

Locals have shown concern that they were not consulted before the ward chairs sold the bridge which was constructed in 1964. They say that it was sold to scrap dealers for around Rs 70,000.

Pudasaini said that he had no idea that the bridge was sold and that he was sent Rs 35,000 by Bidur Municipality-5 ward chair Chitrakar. He also informed that there was no written agreement to sell the bridge. However, Chitrakar said that the bridge was sold in coordination with Pudasaini. He said that the decision to sell the bridge was made because the bridge was weak and was not used.
