Kathmandu, November 14

Police in Kathmandu say they have recently ‘rescued’ 35 children who were working at various dance bars in Lainchaur area of Kathmandu.

As laws bar children from working in any sector, the dance bar atmosphere keeps them at a greater risk of sexual and labour exploitation. Therefore, police have recently launched ‘Operation Rescue Underage’, according to security officials.

Meanwhile, police arrested three bar operators for illegally employing children in work and various sexual activities.

DSP Gautam KC, Chief of Lainchaur-based Metropolitan Police Range, says, “We will expand the rescue campaign in upcoming days.”

He informs that the campaign is underway in other parts of the district as well.
