Kathmandu, October 5
The Federation of Nepali Journalists has regretted comments by Minister for Communication and Information Technology Gopal Prasad Banskota during a meeting of Parliament’s Development Committee on Thursday.
In a statement, the FNJ said that the allegations levelled by Minister Banskota against journalists was objectionable. Minister Banskota had implied in his statement before the committee that journalists are writing against him because they want to extract money from him.
The statement calls on the minister to respect journalism. Similarly, it demands that the minister withdraw his directive to government agencies to give priority to state media when it comes to spending advertising revenue.
