Rajendra Mahato: RJPN will not withdraw support extended to government

Rajendra Mahato speaks with journalists, in Kathmandu, on Monday, July 30, 2018.

Kathmandu, July 30

Rastriya Janata Party Nepal’s presidium member Rajendra Mahato says the Madhesh-centric party will not withdraw its support extended to the government.

Mahato says his party still believes that the government will take initiatives to amend the constitution to meet its demands as it had committed earlier.

Though Prime Minister Oli already told his party that the demand for constitution amendment had already turned irrelevant, Mahato says, “We are hopeful that the government will take initiatives for the constitution amendment. The time is not ripe yet to ‘apply medicines’ to the government.”

In another context, Mahato demands that the government withdraw false charges filed against leaders and cadres of his party during a Madhesh-centric protest and release those detained around the same time.

Mahato was speaking with journalists at the Reporter’s Club in the capital today.
