UML leader Shanker Pokhrel, who has been seen as Province 5’s Chief Minister-in-waiting, says provincial governments should be formed before the meeting of the provincial assemblies.

Pokhrel says that governors of the respective provinces should now call on political parties to stake their claim for chief minister. Talking to Onlinekhabar, Pokhrel said, “The provincial government can only provide business for the assembly. Without a government in place, who will decide the contents of the governors’ speech to the lawmakers?” he asked.

He said that if the governors call on the parties to stake their claim, provinces where a political party or an alliance have majority of seats can easily form the government, and in provinces where groups of parties do not command a majority, negotiations can begin.
