The Judicial Council on Thursday recommended four persons for appointment as chief judges at four high courts.
Incumbent Registrar General at the Supreme Court, Nahakul Subedi, has been recommended for the Chief Judge for Tulsipur High Court (Province 5).
Udaya Prasad Chapagain, Hari Prasad Pokharel and Yagya Basyal have been recommended for chief judges for high courts in Janakpur (Province 2), Surkhet (Province 6) and Dipayal (Province 7) respectively.
Senior-most Supreme Court Justice Deepak Raj Joshi, however, expressed his dissent on the decision.
Meanwhile, a meeting of Judicial Service Commission today recommended that Mahendra Upadhyaya be appointed as the Supreme Court Registrar and Chiranjivi Khanal as the Commission Secretary.
