Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Krishna Bahadur Mahara will inaugurate the newly-established consulate of Nepal in China South-eastern city of Guangzhou.
The consulate in Guangzhou is expected to help promote trade and tourism between the two countries.
Mahara, who is scheduled to head to China on Wednesday, will meet his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in Beijing. However, the date and venue of the meeting has not been made public.
DPM Mahara is also scheduled to address a programme organised by the China Foreign Affairs University. He will return home on September 11.
Media reports had earlier suggested that the visit would be a ‘secret’ one and the MoFA would not share details about Mahara’s itinerary. The visit also comes just days after Prime Minister Deuba returned home from New Delhi and the India-China standoff in Doklam ended with India withdrawing its troops from Bhutanese territory.
