Kathmandu, April 30
Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bimalendra Nidhi has resigned.
Nidhi’s resignation comes just a couple of hours after Nepali Congress and CPN-Maoist Centre lawmakers filed an impeachment motion against Chief Justice Sushila Karki.
It has been learned that Nidhi expressed dissatisfactions over the impeachment motion filed by lawmakers of his and the PM’s parties.
Nidhi has sent one of his aides with the resignation letter to the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar.
Earlier, the Nepali Congress leader had consulted Chief Secretary about the process of filing the resignation. Then, he had called the PM to inform that he was resigning.
A source at the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, however, claimed that Nidhi’s discontent was not on the impeachment motion itself, but on the fact that he was not informed about the developments.
