A super-big national flag installed on Martyrs’ Day

The mega flag of Nepal flutters at Maitighar Mandala, Kathmandu, on Sunday.

Kathmandu, January 29

Maitighar Mandala in Kathmandu witnessed a historic event of sorts on Sunday.

Coinciding with the Martyrs’ Day, poet laureate Madhav Ghimire and CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli jointly hoisted a huge national flag amid a function. A group named Nepal Patriotic Youth Society had made the 10 metre tall and 7.5 metre wide flag that weighs around 8 kg. According to the organisers, this is Nepal’s biggest flag ever hoisted.
