Kathmandu, May 17
The Non-resident Nepalis Association (NRNA) says 95 Nepalis residing abroad have died of Covid-19 since the outbreak began over four months ago.
As of Saturday evening, 63 Nepalis died in the United Kingdom and this is the highest number of Nepalis to have died in a country, according to the organisation. Likewise, 15 people have died in the United States.
The fatality tally as updated by the NRNA is as follows:
- United Kingdom: 63
- United States: 15
- United Arab Emirates: 9
- Saudi Arabia: 2
- Ireland: 1
- Japan: 1
- Turkey: 1
- The Netherlands: 1
- Bahrain: 1
- Sweden: 1
Of them, 77 are men and 19 are women, according to the NRNA’s health committee coordinator Dr Sanjeev Sapkota.
Meanwhile, 6,781 Nepalis living in various countries of the world have been infected, he informs. Of them, 35 per cent have achieved recovery.
