Kathmandu, August 28
The impact of flooding in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa has begun to be felt in border areas of neighbouring India.
According to BBC Hindi, seven bodies—four recovered from the Gandak (Narayani) River in Maharajganj and three from Kushinagar in Uttar Pradesh—have been found. The bodies are of five women and two men.
The report said the bodies are suspected to have been swept into India by the strong river currents during the devastating floods in Nepal.
Rescue personnel from the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), India’s border security force, reportedly spotted the bodies drifting downstream while monitoring the river.
The rescue team retrieved the bodies from the river with the help of a motorboat, according to the report.
The bodies have been sent to the district headquarters of Maharajganj and Kushinagar. “The identities of the bodies have not yet been established,” the report said.
