4 pistols, 58 rounds of ammunition recovered from Bishnumati Riverbank in Kathmandu

Kathmandu, April 19

Four pistols and 58 rounds of ammunition have been recovered from the bank of the Bishnumati River.

According to SSP Ramesh Thapa of the District Police Range, Kathmandu, the weapons and ammunition were seized from the riverbank at Shobhabhagwati, Kathmandu Metropolitan City–15. Along with the pistols and bullets, seven magazines were also found.

The recovered pistols are identified as Type-54, and seven magazines belonging to the same model were discovered.

The weapons were found on Sunday morning during a cleaning operation carried out by the metropolitan office and police personnel. A total of 58 rounds of 9mm Beretta ammunition were recovered.

Acting on special intelligence, a team deployed from the Swayambhu Police Circle seized the weapons. Authorities suspect that the firearms may have been looted from police during the Gen Z protest movement.
