35 departments proposed for NCP headquarters

The announcement ceremony of Nepal Communist Party

Kathmandu, May 28

As many as 33 to 35 central departments have been proposed for the headquarters of newly unified Nepal Communist Party.

A task force led by the party’s leaders Beduram Bhusal and Khimlal Devkota proposed the departments. According to the task force, the structure of departments would be much similar to that of the CPN-UML earlier.

Each department will have its chief, deputy chief and secretary among around 30 members. The chiefs and deputy chiefs will be appointed by the Central Committee whereas the secretary will be elected by the committee itself.

The panel has submitted its reports to the party’s General Secretary Bishnu Poudel. A source says Paudel has discussed the task force’s recommendation in the first phase and sent back the report to Busal and Devkota again for revision.

The new party’s organisational structure would be finalised within next four days, according to the source.

The party is planning to embrace the principle of ‘one person: one position’. The provision, however, will not be implemented for the chief of party’ if she/get appointed as the prime minister of the country.
