2 Dolpa rural municipalities elect chiefs unanimous

Dolpa, May 3

Two rural municipalities in Dolpa district have elected their chiefs unopposed on Tuesday, the District Election Office informs.

Only the CPN-UML filed nominations for chiefs of She-Phoksundo and Dolpo Buddha rural municipalities, District Election Officer Ram Bahadur Budha informs.

Tasi Tunduk Gurung and Lanka Bahadur Rokaya have elected chiefs of She-Phoksundo and Dolpo Buddha respectively.

In She-Phoksundo, the UML candidates won the elections unopposed in all other positions except the deputy chief whereas the UML won all positions unopposed in Dolpo Buddha.

Budha says unanimous elections might have taken place in other places as well, but the Office is yet to get reports due to problems in the telephone connection.

Dolpa is considered a stronghold of UML. In the 2013 parliamentary elections, UML’s Dhan Bahadur Budha had emerged victorious in the district’s only constituency.
