10 injured as Nepali Congress cadres clash over candidacy ticket in Siraha

At least 10 persons sustained injuries as two groups of Nepali Congress cadres engaged in a clash over the selection of candidates for upcoming local level elections, in Siraha district of Province 2 on Wednesday.

Those supporting mayoral candidate of Siraha Municipality of Siraha district, Subhash Chandra Yadav, and another leader Upendra Yadav engaged in the clash using various weapons including khukuri, say police.

The injured include local leaders and cadres Sanjaya Yadav, Budhan Yadav, Devnath Sahani, Rajeshwor Yadav, Ram Babu Yadav, Arun Yadav and Jagadish Yadav among others.

Upendra Yadav had expressed dissatisfaction over granting the candidacy ticket to Subhash Chandra, the son of party’s Central Tresurer Sita Devi Yadav.

Upendra had demanded that he contest for the top position.

Meanwhile, police say the situation has already been contained.
