Kathmandu, February 15
Police at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu have arrested a man for allegedly trying to smuggle 600-gram gold hiding it inside a torch.
The suspect has been identified as Raju Lama, according to Shambhu Prasad Marasini, the chief of the Tribhuvan International Airport Customs Office.
Lama had landed at the airport on Sunday night from Dubai. The gold was detected during an X-ray examination at the airport.
The suspect has been sent to the Metropolitan Police Circle in Gaushala for further investigation and action.
Of late, gold smugglers are reportedly using migrant workers as mules.
